About Hotel Du Lac

Some places are just passing through. Hotel Du Lac is not one of them.

 

We have been welcoming guests since 1888 — long before Interlaken became the gateway to the Jungfrau region it is today. For over 130 years, the Hofmann family has called this corner of the Bernese Oberland home, and this hotel has been at the heart of it all. Generations have grown up within these walls, learning the rhythms of hospitality from those who came before them.

 

Our home sits right on the banks of the Aare, steps from Interlaken Ost station, where the mountains feel close enough to touch and the river moves at its own unhurried pace. Guests have always arrived here from all over the world — drawn by the lakes, the peaks, and the particular kind of stillness that only this valley offers.

 

In 2026, the youngest generation of the Hofmann family stepped into the role of stewards of this place. New energy, new ideas — but the same belief that has guided us since the beginning: that a hotel is not just somewhere to sleep, but somewhere to feel genuinely at home.
